The First Box — to Protect a Humble Piece of Polystyrene, Compressed by Great Force

A handcrafted cardboard box, resembling an art object, sits on a worn white table. The roughly cut and assembled box features visible tape and folded edges. In the background, a blurred white object adds depth to the scene.

The first box I made, built to house a piece of polystyrene that had been compressed and deformed — the container more substantial than its contents. That imbalance felt about right.
